Metrolinx Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and General Engineering Instructions (GEI) Training

Overview

A&B Rail Services Ltd. has partnered with Metrolinx and is approved to provide a 5 day training course on the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and General Engineering Instructions (GEI) training for engineering employees. With the increased number of construction activities happening on or around Metrolinx railways, more people than ever are exposed to the hazards and risks of working in a railway environment. All individuals working on our rail network must be trained on how to safely work and operate in this environment before they begin work. A&B Rail Services Ltd. is committed to offering the highest quality training for all the industry needs.

We offer courses in-person depending on what the customer’s needs are; we can work with you if your interested in purchasing a class date. Please send an email to trainingsolutions@abrail.com with your specific requests.

The CROR/GEI Program is required by:

Every employee in any service connected with movements, handling of main track switches, and protection of track work and track units shall: Be subject to and conversant with applicable CROR rules, special instructions, and general operating instructions.

Every CROR-qualified Employee and Metrolinx designated contractor engaged in flagging services, or the inspection, maintenance or construction of track, roadway, signals, bridges, and other rail corridor structures and infrastructure, must understand and follow these instructions.

As part of the CROR/GEI program, you will be required to:

1. Register for a scheduled training session or email us your alternate request.
2. Attend a registered in-class training session.
3. Attend all 5 classes (8 hours per class)
4. Actively participate during the training session.
5. Complete a Knowledge Assessment at the end of the course.

Registering for CROR/GEI Training

We are delighted to announce that completing Metrolinx’s CROR/GEI has never been easier. Register, pay, and attend a CROR/GEI training through our webpage. Following successful registration, individuals will promptly receive a confirmation email. Please join 15 minutes prior to the start time for attendance.

Upon Completion of the Course

Participants will be certified in Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and the General Engineering Instructions (GEI) approved on Metrolinx property. You will be issued a card to keep on your person with these certifications denoted on it.
